ABSTRACT ART PRINTS - CMYK PROCESS

ABSTRACT ART PRINTS - CMYK PROCESS

Originally used for printing the packaging of everyday items such as cereal boxes. I've utilised the basics of the CMYK process in many of my full colour silkscreen print releases.

The process begins by creating four separate films and screens. This example shows the first application of pure cyan ink on the Luxx Renda print edition.

Next the magenta layer is printed. The inks blend together. The tones and solid colour areas develop. The prints take on a more defined appearance.

Once the yellow ink has been applied the colour gradients and blends become much more pronounced. The colours develop slowly as the inks begin to set.

The addition of the black layer wraps up the basic CMYK side of the production. Selected areas of the print are then isolated in order to add solid spot colours where needed. This creates an incredibly vibrant outcome.
