GLASS SIREN STUDIO - ABSTRACT SILKSCREEN ART: ABSTRACT ART

LARGE FORMAT HARMONOGRAPH

By Damon Roberts

LARGE FORMAT HARMONOGRAPH

These are a couple of large format abstracts that i produced by hand using the silkscreen process. These preces were printed in four separate sections that blended together using a spinning platten i created for the printing press.

These are incredibly detailed works. The linear abstract was generated from digital harmonograph simulator. Harmonograph patterns often feature on bank notes as a security measure as they are difficult to reproduce.

Two variations in this series were produced. One in black with a light gray surface print that almost looked like an x-ray. The inverted version was printed directly onto a flood of varnish on a dutch grayboard substrate.

The inks on this lighter inverted version were a mixture of metalic silver and dark gray acrylics which when dried took on the appearance of graphite pencil. It had a slight shimmer effect when direct light hit the surface.

Both versions are now sold out.

SERIES DESTRUCT SILKSCREENS

I’ve developed an obsession with photographing the inky screens before they undergo the clean up process. Interesting looking objects at this stage. These photographs will be used for a future project i've got planned.
